Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies mode will be playable before launch, courtesy of a beta test planned to take place in two stages. The beta was announced alongside a new trailer revealing the gameplay from the Black Ops 7 rendition of the iconic mode.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 locked down a November 14 release date back in late August 2025. While the game was confirmed to feature a Zombies mode since its June announcement, not much has been shared about it—until right now.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies Open Beta Announced
On September 24, Activision debuted a gameplay reveal trailer for the Black Ops 7 iteration of Zombies, on top of disclosing a wide variety of new information about the mode. Among other things, the publisher announced a standalone open beta for Black Ops 7 Zombies, which will take part in two stages. The first is the early access period, scheduled to kick off on Thursday, October 2, at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET. This phase will run for exactly 72 hours, and will be followed by another three days’ worth of open beta, accessible by everyone.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies Beta Dates
- Early access beta start: Thursday, October 2, 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET
- Open beta start: Sunday, October 5, 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET
- Open beta end: Wednesday, October 8, 10am PT / 1pm ET / 7pm CET
Black Ops 7 Zombies early access is only available to people who pre-order the upcoming Call of Duty game.
Black Ops 7 Physical Pre-Orders Come With a Zombies Beta Code
Anyone who pre-orders either edition of Call of Duty 7: Black Ops 7 will hence be able to play the Zombies beta for up to six consecutive days. While access to the upcoming test is a pre-order perk of both editions, the actual process of joining the beta differs slightly, depending on whether the player has pre-purchased a physical or digital version of the shooter. Digital pre-orders are automatically enrolled through the relevant platform, while those who purchase a physical copy should receive a beta code from their retailer, at the point of sale. Activision said this arrangement applies only to “select retailer locations” but did not provide further details. Customers considering a physical pre-order are therefore advised to confirm code availability with their retailer.
The new Zombies trailer serves as the first and likely only look at the upcoming Black Ops 7 mode that fans will get before its full-fledged reveal at the end of the month, which will arrive as part of the latest edition of Call of Duty: Next. The event is scheduled to take place on September 30, and is expected to yield new information and gameplay footage covering every aspect of the 2025 Call of Duty game.
