Sheffield Wednesday centre-back Ben Heneghan is set to return from injury for the EFL Trophy clash with Burton Albion, according to journalist Joe Crann.
The Lowdown: Heneghen a key absentee
The 28-year-old joined the Owls from AFC Wimbledon during the summer transfer window and impressed during his early weeks at his new club.
Unfortunately, Heneghan hasn’t featured for Wednesday since the 3-0 win at home to Rochdale back in late August, after suffering a hamstring injury.
As Darren Moore’s side prepare to host Burton on Tuesday evening, however, the defender’s return appears to be well within sight.
The Latest: Defender set to return
Taking to Twitter, The Sheffield Star‘s Crann confirmed that Heneghan could be in contention to feature at Hillsborough on Tuesday:
“Ben Heneghan will return to #SWFC’s matchday squad this week. Whether he’ll start or not, however, remains to be seen.”

The Verdict: Big boost for Owls
Heneghan’s return is an unquestionable boost for Wednesday, with the centre-back averaging an incredible 5.3 aerial duel wins per game in League One this season, by far the most in the squad.

Moore has injury problems at the back, with Mark McGuinness a new absentee, so this news has come at an ideal time, as the Owls look to continue both their promotion push and domestic cups charge.
Heneghan certainly feels like a key performer in that respect, with the Englishman arguably in his prime years and someone who is capable of being a true leader, having captained Wimbledon before his move.
