Haaland did not hide his enthusiasm for Gundogan's return and said: "Amazing. When he’s in the locker room, and the treatment room, it feels normal to just see him. It’s good to have him back. He’s an amazing footballer, everyone knows this already. I cannot wait to play with him again. The first game of the season at home was something we were all looking forward to. Knowing how difficult it is for teams to come to the Etihad, I’m really happy we started the season this way."
THE BIGGER PICTURE
The match also marked the first start at the Etihad in a competitive match for City’s new signing, Savinho. The young winger wasted no time in making an impact, earning two assists and playing a pivotal role in City’s comeback. His dynamic performance on the wing, combined with his relentless pressing, won him high praise from Haaland.
"He’s been amazing so far," the Norwegian said. "We’re happy with everyone we have and everyone that comes."
